Hello,

This is Jane! I am the designer of all the bag patterns and applique patterns sold in my patterns shop at Etsy here.

Projects By Jane started out as a documentation of my journey in my bag making. It evolved into pattern making and now applique design.

I learnt to draft and construct clothing at a dressmaking institue when I was 20/21. I did not enjoy making clothes for humans but I loved to make outfits for dolls. In 2007, I started to learn to make bags through books and online tutorials. Back then, there wasn't much material available. I also found that most books don't go into details on how to make the most difficult part of a bag. I started to just figure it out and do through trial and error. I totally obsessed over every detail of making bags. Some of my blog readers encouraged me to sell my knowledge and that was how I started making bag patterns for sale. I tried my best to put in as much detail as possible in my steps. I want everyone who buys my pattern to be able to make the item by following my steps and photo instructions.

A picture tells a thousand words! I include as many photos as I can without making the PDF too large.

In 2014, I started including applique for sale. I loved to draw using a pencil since I was young. My drawings are very child-like, perhaps like a 5 year old. If you enjoy such drawings, my applique patterns may be just your thing. Of course I am not selling you my pencil drawings. I use a software called Illustrator to draw them using a watcom tablet/pen. The results are vector drawings which you can use to create applique, stencils or whatever you want.
